VRangers Trek to Alang-Madan Fort on 11th Ngt-12th -13th Nov 2016

Alang fort located in the Kalsubai range in Nasik district is considered to be among the most difficult treks that one can embark on in Maharashtra. There are certain patches in the trek route to Alang where your rock climbing skills also will be tested to a great extend!!

Alang, Madan and Kulang are adjoining peaks and the most prominent among them is Kulang. Standing at the edge of the Ghats, it commands a fabulous view all around and tough climb is amply rewarded by a most fascinating sunset.

About:

Alang (4852 ft): The beautiful Alang Fort lies in the Nashik region. Top of the fort is huge plateau. There are two caves on the fort for staying and 11 water cisterns arranged in a Cascade formation & a dilapidated storage room.

Mandan (4841 ft): It is considered to be one of the most difficult forts to climb among all the forts in the Sahyadris. The area of the fort is quite small as compared to Alang and Kulang, its adjoining forts. There are only two water tanks on top of the fort. The area visible from the top of the fort is quite scenic.

Please reach before 5 min to the appropriate platforms as this is fast local till mulund then it will halt at all station. If you miss train you will miss the trek.

07.30 am: Good Morning with Tea and B/F.

08.30 am: With intro will start for adventurous trek.

09.05 am: Start for trek.

11.30 pm: Mid of Alang - Madan cave & have lunch.

12.30 pm: Start for Madan with 25 ft climb & Explore the top.

04.00 pm: Back to cave & get ready to climb Alang 45 ft Patch climb.

06.00 pm: Evening Refreshment.

08.30 pm: Have dinner & good ngt.

13th Nov 2016 (Sun) :

06.30 am: Wake up call.

07.30 am: Tea & Breakfast.

08.00 am: Explore Surrounding Of Alang.

09.00 am: Start Rappelling down Alang Patch .

01.30 pm: Reach to Ambewadi.

02.00 pm: Lunch.

03.05 pm: Return journey towards Kasara.

08:30 pm: Back to Dadar.

VRangers adventures one day trek to padargad on 29th Dec 2013.

A square rocky massif, which just out from the ghats near Bhimashankar. The fort is unique & it offers a challenge to trekkers to climb. From the top one can see clear views of peth, bhimashankar, sidddhagad clearly.

About:
Padargad is situated in between Bhimashankar and Nagphani (Snakes hood).The base village is khandas which is about 25km from karjat. Padargad is adjoined to Bhimashankar on its one side’s end. From the Nagphani peak of Bhimashankar, one can see the mesmerizing view of the valley below and the semi circular cliff connecting to Padargad. The peak looks like Kalavantin durga from base.

VRangers One day trek to Irshal fort - panvel region on 15th Dec 2013.

Irshalgad is situated in the Karjat Region. Other forts in this region include Prabalgad, Kalawantin and Malanggad . Actually Irshal is not a fort but it’s a pinnacle. Shivaji Maharaj captured the complete region of Kalyan and Bhiwandi, up to Rairi in May 1666.This fort too, must have come under the Maratha rule at that time.

About:
Irshal is the next-door neighbour to Prabalgad. As mentioned above, Irshal is a pinnacle. There is a water tank on the route from the Irshal plateau to the peak. From there, we reach the needle hole near the top through a simple rock-climbing route. Proceeding little ahead, we see a water tank to the left and a cave to the right. This water is suitable for drinking. The route, which climbs up from near the needle hole goes to the top of the pinnacle. To reach the top of the pinnacle, it is essential to have artificial rock climbing equipment (we are not going to climb top). From the top we can see the forts of Prabalgad, Matheran, Chanderi, Malanggad, Karnala and Manikgad.

VRangers Trek to Dhodhani-Matheran via sunset point on 22nd sept 2013

Matheran is a very famous hill station and a popular weekend gets a way for the Mumbaiites. There are many different hiking routes to reach the top. The most common is one by the motorable road from Neral, which can get very monotonous. Some other routes are via Peb Fort, via one tree hill...
Sunset point is one of the most famous points of matheran. Even though a name of sunset point it gives a most scenic view of vertical series of waterfalls at morning time in rainy season.
Garbett point route is relatively lesser known. It takes us through some breathtaking scenery, green farmlands, a lake, a plateau. The view from the plateau is magnificent!

VRangers one day Trek to Karnala Fort on Sunday 8th Sep 2013

Karnala fort is a hill fort in Raigad district about 12 km from Panvel ST Depot. Currently it is a protected place lying within the Karnala Bird Sanctuary.
Type: Hill Fort.

Region: Panvel.
Grade: Medium.
Height: 1500 ft. (appx)
Max Participation: 25 Rangers.
Charges: Rs. 250/- {It includes:  Travelling by Panvel to Panvel by Tumtum / ST, Morning Breakfast – Tea, Sanctuary – Entry Fee }
History:
Its exact date of formation is not know but likely it predates 1400 CE as under the Devagiri Yadavs(1248–1318) and under the Tughlaq rulers (1318–1347), Karnala was the capital of the north Konkan districts of their respective empires. Karnala was of strategic importance because of its command of the highroad between Bhor Ghat and the rivers of Panvel and Apta, watching the trade route. Between 1248 and 1318, it was under DevgYada. From 1318 to 1347, it was under Daulatabad Muslim rulers. Subsequently it was with the Gujarat rulers, with the help of Portuguese. It changed hands many times between Shivaji, Mughals and Peshwas. It 1803, it came under Bhaji Rao and in 1819, Britishers took control of the fort.
Karnala Bird Sanctuary: It is located at the bottom of the Karnala fort is literally a paradise for bird watchers. The bird sanctuary, established in 1968, is a natural habitat for more than 150 species of resident birds and about 37 species of birds migrating from other areas of the world.
