VRangers Trek to Dhodhani-Matheran via sunset point on 22nd sept 2013

Matheran is a very famous hill station and a popular weekend gets a way for the Mumbaiites. There are many different hiking routes to reach the top. The most common is one by the motorable road from Neral, which can get very monotonous. Some other routes are via Peb Fort, via one tree hill...
Sunset point is one of the most famous points of matheran. Even though a name of sunset point it gives a most scenic view of vertical series of waterfalls at morning time in rainy season.
Garbett point route is relatively lesser known. It takes us through some breathtaking scenery, green farmlands, a lake, a plateau. The view from the plateau is magnificent!

Cost: 350/- Includes B/f, travelling from Panvel to doodhani and Matheran To Neral.
Meeting Point: At Panvel Railway Station- 7.15am.

Trek Schedule:
07.15 Hrs: - Breakfast at Panvel Station & move to ST depot.
07.45 Hrs: - Will move towards Doodhani by ST
08.30 Hrs: - Reach Doodhani & have Instuction n Intro round.
09.00 Hrs: - Start Trek.
11.30 Hrs: - Reach Sunset Point matheran.
12.00 Hrs: - Enjoy scenic waterfall n hills of matheran & move towards market.
12.30 Hrs: - Lunch Time.
13.00 Hrs: - Will Move Towards Market.
14.00 Hrs: - Will Reach Dasturi Naka.
14:30 Hrs:- will get into local vehicles for Neral.
15:30 Hrs:  reach Neral Station.
Here is a list of all the things that we need to carry for the trek:
Compulsory items:
Lunch for the day ,Id proof, approx 3 ltr water, Torch with extra batteries, some snacks, if you have any medical issue please carry your own medicine as we carry only First aid, carry some extra cloths, Raincoat.
Non compulsory items:
Cap, Sunglasses, Camera , Avoid wearing Gold and other jewellery, mosquito’s repellent, Electoral / Energy powder, 2 Lemon, & 2 plastic bags for weight distribution.
(It’s totally your responsibility to take care of your things.)

VRangers Bhivpuri-Diksal Waterfall Rappelling on 22nd Sept 2013.

Waterfall Rappelling also technically known as canyoning and canyoneering are more often associated with technical descents those that require rappels (abseils) and rope work, down-climbing. An waterfall rappelling adventure sport is where you get down from a cliff/patch amidst the gushing waterfall.

Destination: Bhivpuri-Diksal Village.
Height: Approx 120 ft.
Last date to reg: 20th Sep 2013.
Cost: Rs. 600/- (Which includes Breakfast/ Refreshment, Equipment-Expertise Charges).

Extra Rappelling will cost INR 400/- Per chance, and will be permitted only after every person has done with his first chance.

Peb (Vikatgad) Tree Plantation Initiative


Hello Nature Lovers and Fort Lovers,

VRangers supported TryTheThrill and Smriti Pratishthan for Fort Conservation and Cleanup Initiative at Vikatgad in March-April 2012. Now it’s time to make the fort and its periphery greener. We are proud to announce the Tree Plantation Initiative which will be done on 9th-10th June 2012. The main reason to carry out a tree plantation drive on Vikatgad is to preserve and conserve the fortification in a natural way and to afforest the area.

We welcome all the enthusiasts to join us and support us in either ways. Please find the details of the program below -

Schedule:
8th June 2012 –

Meeting point: CST at sharp 10.20 PM. We will be going to Neral in Karjat local. People from Central line can directly board the train at respective stations.

Mumbai CST – 10.40 PM

Dadar – 10.58 PM

Ghatkopar – 11.15 PM

Thane – 11.37 PM

Kalyan – 12.10 AM

Neral – 12.49 AM

We will be moving in taxis to mid way of Matheran and start trek for Peb fort. This will be a night trek of 1.30 hours followed by rest.

9th June 2012 –

07.00 AM – Wake up and Breakfast

08.00 AM – Initiative will be started by a short pooja.

08.30 AM – Teams will split-up for respective duties.

12.30 PM – Lunch and rest

03.30 PM – Continue with duties till dark.

05.30 PM – Tea and snacks

08.00 PM – Dinner and rest

10th June 2012 –

07.00 AM – Wake up and Breakfast

08.00 AM – Teams will split-up for respective duties.

12.30 PM – Lunch and rest

02.30 PM – Continue with duties

04.30 PM – Descend down to Neral station and back home. (We will be back to Mumbai tentatively by 9 PM)

Maximum number of volunteers – 30

Initiative Cost – Rs. 150.00 per head

As this is non-profit based initiative, we are looking for financial contributions. If you wish to support us for saplings, shelter for saplings, food for members, etc then you can donate us additional amount as per your convenience.

Cost includes – Traveling from Neral to Vikatgad, breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks etc.

Things you have to carry – Sleeping material, ready to eat snacks items for your journey, water 3 liter at least, torch, pair of clothes, good shoes, spoon, plate, glass, bowl, old newspaper, raincoat , a haversack to carry all your stuff and personal medicines if any etc… There is possibility of rain so pack your bags accordingly.

Trek to Peb via Matheran on 7th Aug 2011


On Short Notice VRangers arranging peb trek on 7th Aug.

Peb is a fort located near Neral; between Panorama Point (Matheran) and Nakhind to be precise. The fort is also named as ‘VikatGad’. Historical references clearly indicate that Shivaji Maharaj used the caves on the fort as silos for grain storage. It is a beautiful one-day trek and the view of the entire Neral region from the top would be amazing.

Trek Details:
We will travel from Neral to Matheran. We will start climbing Peb fort from Matheran. We will have Lunch once we reach on the fort. Please note that every participant needs to carry their own lunch.While descending, we will descend from Peb fort to Neral station.

The charges for the trek will be Rs 200/- per head which includes breakfast, travelling from Neral to matheran and refreshment.
