VRangers Trek to Kunjargad (Kombadgad) Fort on 26th Ngt-27th Nov 2016

The fort is named as Kunjargad due to its shape is like a large elephant. In Sanskrit, Kunjar means elephant. The fort is also called as Kombad Gad. This hill looks like an Elephant so local people call it Kunjargad. There fort have some of water cistern (Apx 8), interesting ruins, Tunnel, statue of Lord Hanuman, Shiv Ling, Nandi and Koloba another Idol found over on this Hill fort.

About:
The fort is accessible from north from Vihir village. Vihir village is located in Mula river basin. The fort is also accessible from another village Phopsandi located in the hills south of the fort on Mandvi river basin. This amazing and remote hill fort is to be climb to see entire Giant Harishchandragad in one view.
There is also a Bhuyar (the narrow tunnel) on the fort opens on the other end to the valley. This tunnel is located near steps around 40-50 ft. One has to craw on knees to enter and at some places you have to squeeze out your body through the rocks. No crossing of two people at a time. It’s completely dark in the midway so carry your torch along with you. Overall this is interesting to see various ranges from this fort.

Please reach before 5 min to the appropriate platforms as this is fast local till mulund then it will halt at all station. If you miss train you will miss the trek.

01.30 am: Will start journey towards Vihir (base Village) by Private Transport.
04.30 am: Will have some rest in Vihir village so please carry sleeping bag /mat shawl etc.
06.10 am: Wakeup call & Fresh N up.
06.30 am: Will have Tea & breakfast Introduction round.
07:00 am: Start for the trek.
09:00 am: Start adventures climb about 35 ft.
10.00 am: Reach Kunjargad fort Top, explore the fort and get down from steps.
11.00 am: Visit Tunnel.
02.00 pm: Reach to base Village.
02.20 pm: Veg Lunch
03.00 pm: Return journey towards Kasara.
06.00 pm: Reach Kasara stn.
08.00 pm: Back to Thane.
Here is a list of all the things that we need to carry for the trek:
Compulsory items:
A proper two sided haversack to put all the things, So that one has hands free while trekking, id proof, Approx 3 ltr water, Plate, Spoon, bowl, bedding like Mat-Shawl, Torch with extra batteries, Some snacks, Should wear good trekking shoes, full sleeve shirt/T-shirt & Full Pant.
Non compulsory items:
Cap, Sunglasses, Woolen Jacket, Camera, Avoid wearing Gold and other jewelry, mosquito’s repellent, Electoral / Energy powder, 2 Lemon, & 2 plastic bags for weight distribution.
If you have any medical issue please carry your own medicine as we carry only First aid.
